Nestled on the pristine beach of La Preneuse, La Mariposa can boast on having a most unique and breath taking view on Le Morne Brabant emerging from the turquoise lagoon. Cited among the 2 World Heritage sites of Mauritius by the UNESCO, the other being the Apravasi Ghat in Port Louis, this view is a real enchantment

 

It was this exact stunning view and unique location that prompted Mr Gautum Saddul to buy the property in November 1998. Back then the site was an old “campement” (beach villa) with a lush mango orchard at the back. Seeing its potential, Mr Saddul was keen to develop the site and La Mariposa opened its doors in December 2005.  Initially, we opened as a Bed and Breakfast but was renovated into a 34 bedroom Beach residence in the year 2017.

 

Running as a family business by Mr Saddul and his daughters La Mariposa and our Beach Restaurant The Korail Rouge, are proud to employ a team of around 30 committed people from the surrounding area and work with the local entrepreneurs as much as possible.

 

Our goal is to give our guests the feeling of “’being home away from home” while enjoying the magic of our little paradise in the most eco-friendly manner
